Home Candle and Decoration Fires Peak this Month

According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), home fires due to holiday candles and decorations peak this month, with Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day the top three days for these fires.
Nearly half of all holiday decoration fires are caused by decorations placed too close to something hot. Nearly half of the time, the "something hot" is candles.
