October 5-11 is National Fire Protection Association Fire Prevention Week. NFPA's theme this year is “Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives: Test Yours Every Month!”
Having a working smoke alarm in your home cuts your risk of dying in a fire by 50%. Most American homes have at least one smoke alarm, but nearly 2/3 of people who die in home fires have no smoke alarms or non-working smoke alarms.
