Flu Shots Now Mandatory for City's Young Children

As of December 31, 2014, the New York City Department of Health, as authorized by the City Charter, required that all children enrolled in school, preschool or day care be vaccinated against influenza every year.
The new requirement is intended to reduce the rate of influenza infection among children under five years of age, who now account for as much as 40% of influenza infections.
