deBlasio Appoints Rick Chandler to Head DOB

Seven months into his administration, Mayor Bill de Blasio has appointed professional engineer Rick Chandler commissioner of the NYC Department of Buildings, saying the agency badly needs an overhaul.

DOB's bureaucratic culture needs to change, deBlasio said, calling the agency inefficient and out-of-touch.

Chandler, a 1990 Columbia MSCE and a 1984 BSCE from the University of Nebraska, is
